DALLAS — This week, Aeromexico (AM), Mexico's flag carrier, held a commemorative event led by its CEO, Andrés Conesa, to celebrate the airline's 90th anniversary.
Operations began on September 14, 1934, with a Stinson SR Reliant 5A aircraft registered as XB-AJI. Since then, AM has grown to a fleet of 157 aircraft.
The event at Hangar Oriente highlighted the airline's history and achievements, showcasing three iconic aircraft. These included AM's first plane, ‘Kukulcán’—a Boeing 737-9 with a special livery inspired by Mayan culture and Mexico, and a Boeing 737-800 featuring the new design that will be adopted across the entire fleet.
Additionally, AM gave a preview of the new uniforms for flight attendants and ground staff, as well as collaborations with brands joining the celebration.
"I want to express my deep gratitude to the more than 16 thousand employees who make up the Aeromexico family. Their commitment, effort, and dedication are the engine that drives our beloved airline to fly higher. I would also like to thank all our partners, who have been a fundamental part of building this history throughout these nine decades. And especially to our customers, who are the cornerstone of our ability to celebrate our first 90 years in the skies.", said Andres Conesa, CEO of Aeromexico.
