LONDON — Boeing and TUI GRoup have finalized an order today for 10 737 MAX 8s, plus an additional 787-9 Dreamliner at the 2016 Farnborough International Airshow. The order, valued at $1.4 billion at current list prices, also includes an option for one additional Dreamliner.

The new 737 MAX order announced today is an exercise of 10 options from a previous order placed in 2013, when the carrier became the launch customer of the type in the UK."We [TUI] were first in the UK to tale the original 737 back in 1968, and the Boeing 767 in 1980. We were the second airline in Europe to take delivery of the 787 Dreamliner, and the second to take the 737 MAX" said David Burling, Member of the Executive Board and responsible for TUI Group Airlines.

There are six proprietary airlines in the TUI Group operating 136 medium and long-haul aircraft, including more than 100 Next-Generation 737s and 14 787s. These airlines are TUIfly, Thomson, TUIfly Nordic, Jetairfly, Corsair and TUIfly Netherlands. With today's order, TUI Group now has three unfilled orders for 787-9s and 70 for the 737 MAX.
