American Airlines Inaugurates Boeing 777-300ER Service from JFK
by Sebastian Toovey

American Airlines began Boeing 777-300ER service from New York-JFK on Friday, March 15, with flight AA100 to London-Heathrow (LHR). The first flight was operated by fleet number 7LB (N718AN), the aircraft that performed AA’s first revenue service with the type on January 31, 2013, AA963 Dallas/Ft Worth to São Paulo, Brazil—read the May issue of AIRWAYS for a complete first-hand report.

A small reception was held at Terminal 8’s gate 14 to mark the event of this new service, with light refreshments available to passengers who were obviously excited and surprised to be a part of this historic flight.

American is the first US airline to operate the 777-300ER, which is scheduled initially on the JFK-LHR route on AA100/AA101. Effective May, it will also fly AA106/AA107.
